Alain Corneau

Born in 1943.From a small village in the centre of france.
Two passions: Music and cinema.
While studying he became a jazz musician. Graduated from the French National School of Cinema(IDHEC).Part of a generation coming after the "Nouvelle Vague", which means : watching two or three(at the least) movies a day, and discovering different music, from the "new" baroque sounds to classical traditions of India.
First assistant director for few years{Roger Corman, Costa Gavras, Michel Drach, Marcel Camus, Nadine Trintignant, etc.)
Became director around the 70, soon labelled as specialist of "Film Noir".After the first period he went into very different directions : Shooting in Africa, Pakistan, Japan, India, and at last made a film about music("tousles Matin du Monde").
He keeps on travelling all over the world, between two films.Since the 90, he went back to classic film Noir, and he is still trying to find a way to keep th genre alive in france...with the help of new generation!
