Threes Anna

Threes Anna is a writer and director from the Netherlands who works in three fields; film, literature and theatre.

In 2007 her feature film ’The Bird Can’t Fly’ was released, a drama with Barbara Hershey in the lead. It premièred on the San Sebastian IFF and won the prize for Best Dutch First Directors Film.

In January 2008 her fourth novel was published which is based on her film. In July 2008 she finished the film script ’Silent City’ an adaptation of her third novel and at the moment she is writing on a new novel which takes place in India.

After the Rietveld Academy of Arts in Amsterdam (1985), where she studied theatre design and audio-visual studies, Threes Anna became director of the international theatre company Dogtroep (till 1999). In this capacity she wrote and directed over 50 site-specific theatrical spectacles all across the globe.

In 2003 her first novel, ’The Widow’s Kiss’, was published; in 2005 her novel ’Motor Mother’; in 2006 ’The Silent City’ and in 2008 ’The Bird Can’t Fly’.Beside her own work Threes Anna gives lectures and workshops about directing all around the world.
